The creativity of the directors and agents
in Italy and France lead to a solution. The company decided
to exchange in raw materials. The company offered Italian clients
flower bulbs and in exchange received goldfish, seeds and hand
gloves for example.
Current business
Fred. de Meulder has grown into one of the largest flower
bulb exporting companies in the flower bulb region. Over
the past two decades it has gone into three
major partnerships. First of all in 1989, Fred. de Meulder joint together
with Jacob L. van Reisen which has been a fruitful collaboration and strengthen
the company’s position in France and Germany.
The second partnership
took place in 2001 by taking over van Til, an export company specialised
in selling
lilies. That same year the company also closed a deal with
Stuifbergen Blomsterlok. This is a Swedish company selling
packaged flower bulbs to Swedish garden centres, municipalities
and growers.
